Fight Denials. Win Appeals.

Upload your denial letter. Kupu analyzes the denial reason, finds the billing errors hiding inside it, generates your appeal with the right regulatory citations and deadlines, and manages the fight through resolution. Up to 70% of denied claims are overturned when patients fight. Kupu handles the paperwork.

Appeal Evidence, Built Automatically

Kupu scans your claims for unbundled procedures, duplicate charges, overcharges, and coding errors — 7 detection types in all. These billing errors become the evidence that strengthens your appeal. The same checks professional medical bill auditors perform, running in seconds.

Ongoing Protection

Track your deductible and out-of-pocket maximum across every bill and EOB. Kupu catches billing errors before they become denials — and flags when your insurer’s numbers don’t match yours. One denial often means systemic problems.

FAQ

Questions?

That’s exactly what Kupu is built for. When a claim is denied, Kupu analyzes the denial reason, scans for billing errors hiding inside the claim, and generates your appeal letter: the right regulatory language, the correct citations (ACA, ERISA, or state law depending on your plan), and the deadlines you cannot miss. Up to 70% of appeals succeed when patients fight. The system counts on you giving up. Kupu makes sure you don’t.

Kupu runs seven detection algorithms against your claims: duplicate charge detection, NCCI unbundling analysis (checking if procedures should be billed together), overcharge detection using Medicare fee schedules, deductible misapplication, math errors, out-of-pocket maximum violations, and facility fee analysis. These billing errors often cause or complicate denials — and they become the evidence that strengthens your appeal. Beyond denials, Kupu also scans standalone bills and tracks your insurance spending against your plan’s deductible and out-of-pocket max.

Kupu generates a dispute letter you can send to the provider or insurance company. It includes the specific error, the relevant billing codes, and the reasoning for the dispute. It’s not legal advice or medical advice — it’s a great starting point for you to fight back and receive what you rightfully deserve.

Medical bills, EOBs (Explanations of Benefits), and denial letters. Kupu works best with itemized bills that include CPT codes (the 5-digit procedure codes on most itemized bills). Take a photo or upload a PDF — Kupu handles the rest.

Kupu tracks your deductible and out-of-pocket maximum across every bill and EOB, so you always know where you stand with your plan. It cross-checks what your provider billed against what your insurance paid, flags discrepancies, and analyzes denial letters for appealable errors. When a claim is wrongly denied, Kupu generates appeal letters with the specific codes and justification you need to fight back.

Yes. Your data lives on your phone — not on our servers. When analysis is needed, documents are de-identified before they ever leave your device, then processed in a secure, HIPAA-compliant encrypted environment and deleted immediately. We use a zero-retention architecture: no data warehouse, no research datasets, no third-party sharing. Your health information is yours — we just help you understand it.

No. Every finding is explained in plain English — what the error is, why it matters, and what to do about it. And if you still have questions, Kupu’s Advisor is always available. It’s a full AI assistant built into the app that can explain any aspect of medical billing, insurance coverage, or your specific situation. Ask it anything healthcare finance related, anytime.

Free during beta. Once we exit beta, Kupu will charge a small subscription fee to cover server and maintenance costs. Join the beta waitlist now to make sure you get in for free.

Scott Ruffin, former Amazon and Walmart operations executive, Marine Corps veteran. He spent 28 years building systems that use data to find patterns and build automation around them. After an unexpected medical bill, he realized: the patient financial experience is broken in ways that are knowable and fixable. He built Kupu to be the patient’s counter-system.
