When a claim is denied, Kupu analyzes the denial reason, scans for billing errors hiding inside the claim, and generates your appeal letter: the right regulatory language, the correct citations (ACA, ERISA, or state law depending on your plan), and the deadlines you cannot miss. The system counts on you giving up. Kupu makes sure you don’t.
Kupu runs seven detection algorithms against your claims: duplicate charge detection, NCCI unbundling analysis (checking if procedures should be billed together), overcharge detection using Medicare fee schedules, deductible misapplication, math errors, out-of-pocket maximum violations, and facility fee analysis. These billing errors often cause or complicate denials — and they become the evidence that strengthens your appeal. Beyond denials, Kupu also scans standalone bills and tracks your insurance spending against your plan’s deductible and out-of-pocket max.
Kupu generates a dispute letter you can send to the provider or insurance company. It includes the specific error, the relevant billing codes, and the reasoning for the dispute. It’s not legal advice or medical advice — it’s a great starting point for you to fight back and receive what you rightfully deserve.

Two things do leave it: lookups that send billing codes, denial codes, payer and provider names, and your state to Kupu’s own server, and a short record when you mark an appeal sent or record its result. Both carry a random app ID, not your name. We never sell your data, and you can delete everything, including those records, from Settings.
